Jose Lara looks at what healthy ageing is, and some of the biological, social and psychological contributors to healthy ageing, along with the interactions between them. Lara then examines the concept of the healthy ageing phenotype. He explains the process of ageing, and why it is so complex, and discusses research that he has completed with his colleagues. 

This lecture was part of an event called ‘Healthy ageing' at The Royal Society of Medicine in London.
