Professor Michael Berk discusses the rise in mental illness in Western countries, focusing on diet as a causal factor. Professor Berk takes us through numerous studies regarding varying diets and their effect on mental wellbeing, and the link between diet and oxidative stress and inflammation. In particular, Professor Berk discusses the role of mitochondria in mental disorders and how influencing mitochondrial function might be used to treat these disorders.
