In May 2015, doctors in Texas performed the first-ever multi-organ transplant paired with the transplant of a skull and scalp tissue. Speaking about this extraordinary feat of surgery was MD Anderson Cancer Center's Dr Jesse Selber, who walks through the case report in detail, and assesses the feasibility of composite vascularised allotransplantation (CVA) and the risks involved. More than 50 health care professionals were involved in the procedure, which took 15 hours to complete.
