Adrian Williams offers a background into the main sleep-related disorders and their prevalence in the UK, before assessing what the role of the specialist sleep service should be. He looks at the merits of videopolysomnography in assessing daytime sleepiness. Adrian also emphasises the need for a specialist sleep service to be multidisciplinary and certified.
